Sonic Image is an energetic team of passionate event professionals who make magic happen. We thrive in challenging situations, our extensive experience having given us the knowledge required to produce flawless events again and again. We love to hear, “I’m not even sure if this is possible but…” and we love making the impossible happen right before our clients’ eyes. From business meetings to full scale conferences and everything in between, we know what it takes to turn an event into an experience.

Like Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft, we had humble beginnings, with Sonic Image being founded in 2012 in president Derick Aubie’s home. Those days are long behind us, as we quickly gained momentum and a reputation as a company that excels in customer service and satisfaction. We are the provider of choice for returning and regular clients, and their loyalty means the world to us.

We know the importance of balance between excellence and innovation –  placing an extreme emphasis on both growing our client list and improving our processes and services to to attract new clients and delight our existing client base.

We are obsessed with business growth, and pushing the envelope. We have no intention of slowing down – the future looks bright and we look forward to expanding our business into new markets.

Derrick Aubie

Founder/ President

President Derrick Aubie started Sonic Image in 2012 and has seen his dream grow from a one man show to a full fledged company, handling over 700 events and services in 2017 alone. Derrick has been in the audio industry for a decade now, and his interest in good sound is all encompassing, leading him to earn a certificate in Recording Arts from OIART. He’s still working on his own sound on the guitar, always cheered on and supported by his wife Jenny and son Adyn.

Regional Operations Manager

Our Operations Manager Philip Gallant has been an audiophile as far back as he can remember and has made A/V his profession for almost 20 years. He has overseen thousands of events and traveled across the country on a mission to save promoters and event managers from boring events. When he’s not tinkering with sound and presentation, Phil can be found tinkering with his other passion in life, his Jeep, a hobby and joy he shares with his wife Jenny (yep, another Jenny!) and his son Jayden (which we know rhymes with Adyn and we swear it was not on purpose.)

John Hogg

Senior Audio Visual Technician

Audio Visual Technician John Hogg has developed a passion for A/V the old fashioned way: over 15 years as a musician, touring the country with multiple bands. His entertainment endeavours didn’t stop there, this multi-talented maverick has also worked in film as an actor, director, composer, and writer. The importance of sound and visuals to create an unforgettable experience drives him to be the very best in the field. He is still a musician at heart, spending time writing songs with his superfan (and daughter) Faye.

Mitch Peterson

Audio Visual Technician

Our newest team member, Audio Visual technician Mitch Peterson also has an entertainment background, having spent a year operating sound for broadcast television after graduating NSCC’s Recording Arts Program in 2016. And because we couldn’t hire a guy who wasn’t as into music as we were, Mitch is a talented musician as well, playing in a local band when he’s not hanging with his girlfriend on beautiful PEI.
